Sounds like something that could give you more warning

Figured for $85 shipped it was worth a gamble. I know there are free apps like trapster, but they rely on the guy ahead of you marking. this uses the Apple / android GPS + the feed back form the detector.

Anyways will see what its like when it comes.

was almost ready to do a hardwire setup myself, but this reminded me yet again why I said no. stuff changes way to quick for me to warrant cutting the pcar. the f150 on the other hand I can do.

I think the subscription is included with the purchase price for the first couple of years after that - well there will be something new.

On the escort thread still working other angles. Went out with this new girl. Totally cooked. Liked to get peed on. Not the first time dealing with that, but she wanted me to use toys on her / in her. OK where do you keep them hun? She directs me to the night stand and holy S. I thought I had a lot of extensions for my socket set. I had never seen a collection / inventory like this. Anyway to appease and make her happy I just kept on putting more in. It was like playing Jenga, but putting shit in rather than pulling it out

Yeah – I have been drinking

My car is hardwired like many people suggest, but I am interested in how this works.
Do you have an iPhone? Can you still play music and Sync the phone to a Bluetooth speaker phone at the same time?

Anyways will see what its like when it comes.
I like what they are doing with it. I have a hardwired set up like many of the other people here do.

Can you sync two things at once with an iPhone? Like a Bluetooth speaker as well?

I do really like the upgrades to the cord though. With the USB and the new look.

They are working on a device you can use if you hard wire. Then i'll give it a try. Not going back to cords..

OK so I have had the escort live going for a week or so now here is the quick review.

First the live system only works currently with windshield mount units that use a cig lighter power source.

I know folks love hard wire, but seriously tech changes so fast the best detectors are the windshield mounts. After living with a multi-thousand $$ install and then the windshield, I must say the flexibility is the windshield. I have upgraded 3 times since 2008.

    OK so whats it like.

The instructions are a bit week but not that bad you cant figure it out. First you have to download the app and install on your phone. Next register the cord. then plug the cord into the detector and then apply power. You will then have to bluetooth link the phone and cord. Just like a headset. After that you are off and running.

With my 9500 I did this all when connected to my laptop and did a bunch of firmware updates. this may have complicated shit, but it all worked out.

First thing you notice is that the phone app pings the network every other second for about 1/2 a second no doubt to send and receive data. An unlimited data plan maybe a requirement for these - I have that plan so no worries.

The next thing you notice is that you now control the detector from your phone with nice iphone screens. if you have ever programed an escort via the face plate it can be a pain in the ass and impossible when driving. the phone takes car of this.

As an early adopter I did not expect much from my first trip out.

Next I tried it with my redline. This is when it got nice. I connected it and the first thing it told me that I had to update the firm where in the detector. Redline does not have a USB so that means it a send to factory FUCK. The app is now asking for the last 2 digits on the serial number. I comply. THe next thing it does is starts the upgrade Wait what. OK apparently power is not the only thing the cord does on an escort. The app (still on my home network because I am in the garage ) downloads the upgrade, sends it via bluetooth to the cord and boom the radar is done inside of a couple mins. So updates to the detectors are now auto? If yes - looks like it is - this is win especially if you own a red line.

Now a redline does not have the GPS, but add the smart cord and it does now!!!! SO now you have the worlds most sensitive detector, with GPS. WIN 2

Now the live system automatically sends KA and laser to the network. On xmas I am driving back from NY at night in the truck banging a hard 85 on I84 in CT. The radar goes off but the tone is one I don't recognize. the detector barks "Escort live alert" KA radar 2000 feet ahead. I slow, 1000 feet ahead, 500 feet ahead. I look to the side of the road and F me CT state cop on the side of the road. WIN 3 I now look at the screen and it had been reported by another live unit 10 mins earlier. WIN 3 its saved my ass.

My advice for $82 shipped - win. If you have a redline its a must

Hardwired does not mean big money install. I have my 9500ix clipped on my visor and hardwired, very east to do. Also have the regular power cord so can quickly swap the unit into other vehicles. I was looking at the Live yesterday and would buy it but have no desire to use plug in power cord.

dont pay anything other than the $82. first year is free and reallistically with the amount of times I upgrade I have never paid a subscription fee to escort ever. I do like the trapster app, however it requires that you report a sighting. The escort is automatic. If it is on (which you would do for the protection) it is reporting.

Yeah, it got to the point with my 8500 where I'd tuned out the X band signal haha. I was so used to it!

but like Trapster it also requires that someone else have this service drive by first to report it (albeit automatically instead of pressing a mark trap button)..
