  1. #1 Default Escort Live?
No I'm not trying to kill a hooker. Now that it works with iPhone I want to get. Looks like I just order the kit for my 9500ci but not sure if it's something I can connect up myself? From looking it seems the kit comes with a cable to hookup to interface, not sure where that even is though? Has anyone done it or maybe just better to bring to Safi? Wazer has been decent but since Escort Live automatically connects everyone running it sounds like a better system and since it seems to be my job to keep you guys from getting tickets I need the best

I assume you cannot run both this and waze at the same time?

They will run together and they seem to use the same database, so I just used waze because I could see what was going on in the map view. Its nice to have both since google now owns waze and they seem to be fucking it up lately.

How many people are actually running escort live??

Not many people run a detector, probably even less run live...

I haven't noticed anything getting messed up. Been getting better actually.

Live for my detector requires a different chord I can't hide, so I won't use it.

I have been having some issues with it in the last 2 months, navigation just going blank, not able to flag cops and getting the stupid something went wrong error and a few other things, but things seem to have stabilized a bit. The police alert comes up way too late now so you really have to pay more attention and watch the screen more than I would like.

They make a hard wire kit now so you can hide it better if you are using a stand alone detector. I just used a 6pin data cable in the BMW and it worked fine with the cord so I could hide it better. Being able to control the settings for the detector with the app is much better and that alone is worth it.

been using it for a few years now and I like it.

OK installation: basically its a new power cable for either the windshield mount or the installed version. Note the permanent installation uses a different cable than the windshield mount so make sure you order the correct one.

The power cable is a "smart cable" that is blue tooth equipped. the cable interfaces with the phone via bluetooth. Each cable has a unique bluetooth address, so if you have multiple directors, you will have to pair each cable to the phone.

    pro's

You get the wisdom of those that have gone before you. Unlike some of the iPhone aps like trapster, this system automatically reports if the radar goes off. the driver has to do nothing. That being said because speed traps end to move about you will get reports for traps that are no longer there. still better safe than sorry.

the system allows you to configure the radar from the phone. This is supper nice. One of my detectors is a red line and is a pain in the balls to configure. this fixes that.

your system can update via your cell phone. When your phone is on a wifi network (say parked in your garage). Your phone can down load updates and update your radar. this was a big plus for the redline since the only way to update them prior to the cord was to send them back to escort.

    Cons:

You will get more false alarms. as speed traps move around, you are never sure if they are still there.

The app is very power hungry. You must have your phone plugged in the car.

You have to kill the app after leaving the vehicle. It will continue to run and suck you battery dry waiting for back ground updates. you can turn off back ground updates.

over all I think its worth it, but my attitude to detectors is buy the best because it will pay for itself if it saves you once. On my first long trip the live system saved my ass in CT. $130 well spent since the ticket would have been way more than 130.

    questions pleas ask

if your having problems with the app. Uninstall and reinstall from the store. You will have to delete in iTunes and on the phone. This is the fix from escort. Note your configured settings on your detector will be pushed to the device so you don't have to reconfig the detector. You will have to redo the log on screen. your log on is linked to your user account so don't worry about your membership.

Waze has never had really advanced alerts for cops as long as i've been using it. Though they did change it from .2 miles to .5 in the past month or so.

waze is free, i'm happy to use that over paying for excort live.

AL Priority is a great product, had it for some months now. It works without fail. My setup on the CLS63:

    Escort Passport Max
    AL Priority 1 w/3 sensors

Whenever the max picks up on laser, the AL screams out and jams for 5 seconds (that can be increased though). Gives me time to slow down some, no tickets since getting both installed. The Max is an awesome detector picking up on red light cameras, speed machines, POP, Laser, KA, and eliminating falsies after 3 times.
