  1. #1 Default Next up, Steering wheel.
I have had my PPI wheel now for about 4 years, still looks brand new but would like a little change. Not sure if I should sell it and get a new wheel or if I could get this freshened up with some red stitching and maybe new leather? Have not been able to find any place to do that though. I forget who but someone, might have been Ken Lin?, told me there is a place in NJ that does this?
    Current wheel

Would this be to much red?

I really like your wheel. I'd consider just getting it redone instead of getting a whole new one. Don't know any shops to recommend though.

After what this wheel cost me that is the way I would like to go. Does not seem like it would be a big job to take off leather and replace with new leather and stitching considering that is part of what's done on all custom wheels. Problem seems to be though all the ones that do that are overseas and don't want to be shipping that far. would think I should be able to find some shop that specializes and leather to do this?

I swear someone here had this done. I can't remember who though.

The more i look at the pictures the more I think that's too much red. Black leather with red stitching would be nice.

Black leather with red stitching would be the way to go. IMO, the red leather would only look good if you were getting your interior reupholstered with a lot of red accents to go with it.

Keep the wheel you have. Its amazing, and really could only get worse. New leather would be a great idea after 4 years of use. Would freshen it up and feel new again. Red stitching would be a nice touch, too. Otherwise I would keep it the same as you have it, black perforated leather and CF on the top and bottom. Looks like it belongs in the car, especially with all the new CF you have added around it. Different color leathers or alcantara would look out of place, IMO.

i very much vote against the red leather. red stitching yes. red ring sure. red leather NO. and no idea locally where to do this, phil knows an interior guy but I don't know if he does steering wheels.

    the red leather looks terrible

if anything, take your current wheel and replace the leather with alcantara

    that would be best wheel

I think I'm probably one of the only people on YR who don't care for alcantara in 95% of all situations.

I agree, would prefer leather. I could do what Phil did to change color of his stitching, take a red sharpie to it

I think that the cost of Scott's cf trim pieces exceeds the cost of a new FR-S.

oh yea, because the stock wheel in the bmw looks so much better.

Alcantara only looks good if there are other alcantara parts in the interior. Otherwise I really think it looks tacky and out of place.

New leather with red stitching would look perfect.

quit being an ass, i never said that the bmw wheel was any better, just my opinion that the fr-s wheel does to belong in an R8. Neither would a bmw wheel.
