    I think it is mostly greenhouse, but lighter cars do sell better in hot areas so there might be some small difference.

    I think Mythbusters did a show on this. The black car got hotter than the white car by 10 degrees.

    hate my black roof but it's also all glass which makes it even worse.

    Yes black surface in general doesn't reflect heat compared to a white surface. But my theory is that heat inside a car is more of a greenhouse effect thru Windows.
    I was working with a boat builder that was building a special edition of one of their models with a black roof. They had to add another AC unit to keep the temperatures down in the cabin. With an identical boat with a white roof next to it, the black roof was measuring more than 20 degrees hotter.

    Obviously not a direct comparison to a car, but the only difference from one to the other was color. Materials and construction were identical on the two.

    My car gets very hot. Granted there's only one small area of sound deadening/ heat barrier left. Gonna look into a uv reducing clear tint situation.


    I still vote maple leaf roof.
