Hey Guys,

I've been very MIA from this site as I've moved to San Francisco and no longer own a car. The rent is too damn high!

There's no 2016 tax thread yet, and I'm excited to share that my employer is now taking tax filing and making it free - there's been some press coverage such as:

Breaking down and going to an accountant this year. I don't think I was intentionally deceptive at the time, but the IRS took a look at my 2014 return this year and decided I owed them another $1700.

most likely TaxAct since i can just pull up my last year's return right in the system. Saves a lot of time, enough to make the $40 or so worthwhile to file for state.

Pretty cool that Credit Karma is expanding their offering beyond credit scores. I am probably not going to use it this year, but would be curious to see how they do next year before deciding if im going to make the switch.

PS: the CEO if Credit Karma is Ken Lin ...

Also, I thought I was going to get fucked by taxes, turns out I am going to get fucked by one of my tenant for not paying Nov and December rent. And icing on the cake is a broken furnace that is apparently not repairable and will need replacement.

Yay! the best way to reduce tax liability is income loss!
