  1. #1 Default A friend's drift car build.. I think RAW will enjoy this... (Or hate it immensely)
(Note: Alot of this is quoted from his build thread on another board)

A friend/coworker of mine in Seattle is an avid drifter, and D1 instructor... Last year, this was his drift toy...

He wanted something different this year, so he decided to take everything from the 86, and drop it into this...

    The 86's running gear...

Suspension parts are ready to go:

Rear window was leaking pretty bad. I got the window out without cracking it. I'm just going to clean it up, paint and use window weld:

Got the AE86 rear end fitted. I wouldn't do this unless you have aftermarket arms:

I'll need to modify the upper spring and shock mounting points to make them fit perfect:

I got these from groupb on the forum, very nice product and awesome fit:

    Test fitting:

These wheels look like $#!+ so I'm going with a 15x8 -38. Those are in the mail :D

Fitted the ae86 crossmember, ae86 steering rack and steering column:

I'll need to make the hole in the firewall bigger and perhaps shorten the intermediate shaft. I'll update when that happens.

Had to cut this out of the firewall to make room for the motor:

The tranny mount from the Celica lined up perfectly. We had to cut back the shifter hole about half an inch. Control arms are in the same spot as before.

    That's it until tomorrow.

ae86 steering is now fully installed. The tilt works and the Ujoint turns nice and smooth:

Started cleaning up and painting. I'm going to use gloss black in the trunk and cabin:

Please keep in mind that this is not a restoration. My goal is to just stop what rust I have and fiberglass any holes. That's all for today 8)

OMFG! That's a GREAT build!! What a celica! Wish I could see this in person. The best part to me is the fact he built it to DRIVE. Love it.

I'm sorry to hear you suffer from Cranial-Rectal Inversion

That's what I like about him so much... That 86... He bought it... It was CHERRY... Not a scratch on it... That weekend he took it out to evergreen and did this..
