  1. #1 Default Project RX-8, "Serenity" - The Build
Back Story: I had been helping my friend here and there with his 2004 Mazda RX-8 which he was using for autocross. After some discussion, I knew I wanted to be a bigger part of this and expand into a new venture for my business and myself. I decided to sponsor the '04 RX-8, dubbed "Midnight" by it's owner, my friend Marc. Being a previous owner of an RX-8, I also learned a great deal about the platform through my research and modifying and maintaining my own vehicle. Midnight had a challenging season, being in Street Mod versus some seriously built cars.

Unfortunately, the dream and efforts of Midnight were short lived, as the vehicle was totaled in an accident in December 2010.

Damn that's quite a mod list!

First thing I thought of when I saw the project name was Frank Constanza, "Serenity now!"

lol thanks man. This was the car I asked you about rolling the fenders but we got it done. It really needed a minimal amount of clearance.

THANK YOU KAIZEN TUNING AND DRIVEN PERFECTION!

    Latest chapter:
The clutch and flywheel were installed on Monday and I had the pleasure of working it through some of the break-in cycle on Thursday night and the first half of the day on Friday. I haven't felt an RX-8 just gain speed like this before since normally the lack of torque is a factor with both stand still and roll-on acceleration.

Part of my drive took me to Driven Perfection in Weymouth, MA to have our new sponsor logos from Kaizen Tuning put on, as well as to re-install the Mazda logos on the rear quarters. While there, we played with the layout of the magnetic numbers and logos to see what might look best. We are going to re-install the yellow SCCA NER triangles to be more symmetrical with the red Kaizen symbol, as well as the Hoosier logos on the fenders, to fit the curve of the fender and be centered over the wheel. (The pics below do not show the new position of the Mazda logo. They are now on a parallel horizontal plane just above the height of the Kaizen Tuning logo, and centered on the quarter panel, left to right.)

The car and it's owner left very early this morning for East Rutherford, New Jersey where it will be competing at New Meadowlands Stadium in the New Jersey SCCA ProSolo event.

    Driver's notes:
"This week has been pretty flat-out in terms of getting prepared for my first ever ProSolo race. I got the flywheel and clutch installed, managed to find time to break them in, and then started playing with some vinyl layouts with Jeff. I'll be taking a picture tomorrow when I'm in New Jersey with the car fully setup and ready to roll, but the pictures you see will give you a good idea of what's to come. Thanks again for all the help everyone, I can only hope for the best.

If you're interested in following the live results update and radio feed, check out http://sololive.scca.com/ . Be sure to keep an eye out in B Street Prepared for #42 Marc Monnar and #142 Brian Kuehl. (For those wondering, due to an injury, Brian is unable to drive his CRX and would be better suited driving a car with power-steering, so Ben and Brian swapped places.)

It was Marc the owner most likely. He should be at more events hopefully so you guys will be able to meet him at some point I'd imagine.
