As long as his religion doesn't bleed into policy making it wouldn't be a problem, the important question is whether or not his previous success in positions of power would scale up accordingly. Compared to the entire country, the olympics and MA could really just be an example of the whole big fish in a small pond thing. I'm not a republican so my opinion is essentially void, but Romney does seem like the most viable GOP candidate right now.

As for religion and politics, that's something that should be discussed in a medium that can't be misinterpreted as much as an online forum. It's opening up two of the biggest cans of worms you can find, and can go pear shaped in a hurry. I'd love to discuss it in person but I'll limit my internet opinion to support of separation of church and state.

Just because Romney has an R next to his name doesn't mean shit. He is a RINO! (republican in name only)

I don't give a shit if he is an athiest, catholic, muslim etc he's a fucking socialist, and before you disagree read the rest of my post.

What Republican, would force health care on its citizens?

    From wikipedia, regarding "Romney care"

The Massachusetts health care insurance reform law (sobriquet: "Romneycare"),[1] enacted in 2006, mandates that nearly every resident of Massachusetts obtain a state-government-regulated minimum level of healthcare insurance coverage
    Makes you get health insurance,

The reform legislation also included tax penalties for failing to obtain an insurance plan. Massachusetts tax filers who failed to enroll in a health insurance plan which was deemed affordable for them lost the $219 personal exemption on their income tax.
Fines you if you don't have health insurance

Beginning in 2008, penalties increased by monthly increments
    Oh lovely.

and you all bitch about obama care, Guess who Obama modeled his healthcare plan after? Mitt Romney.

He also spent our tax dollars when he introduced the Massachusetts Climate Protection Plan. Move over Al Gore.

Also, Wanna know why we can't have the cool Gun's New hampshire and vermont sell? Because of Mitt romney signing the assault weapon ban.

    He's the lefts wet dream.

on a later note, if you want to clean things up in this country, Stop all these stupid government programs so people have to work for a living. I saw this in the headlines the other day, "Michigan Dumped 30,000 College Students From Food Stamps Program, Saves $75M"

Their reason? "We want to encourage people to be self-sufficient, not to be dependent on the government,"

what a fucking novel idea! Why didn't we think of that!

Let them eat Ramen noodles 5 times a week like everyone else who doesn't leach off my tax dollars.

Uh Pete...do you read the Boston Globe? Check out these other sources in Boston...

    Excerpt from 2007:

In 1992, Mitt Romney was running Bain Capital, a private equity firm. Bain Capital bought American Pad & Paper Co. (Ampad) for $5 million.
Over the next several years Romney's firm bled the company dry. Hundreds of workers lost their jobs. Stockholders were left with worthless shares. Creditors and vendors were paid less than 50 cents on the dollar. While they were exploiting the company, Romney's firm charged Ampad millions of dollars in "management fees." In all, Romney and his investors reaped more than $100 million dollars from the deal.
    Check this out too: http://www.boston.com/news/daily/26/ampad.pdf

AS MITT ROMNEY pursues his bid for the presidency, his record as Massachusetts governor will come under scrutiny, including how the state's economy performed during his administration. Our analysis reveals a weak comparative economic performance of the state over the Romney years, one of the worst in the country.
    From the Boston.com news: http://www.boston.com/news/globe/edi...onomic_record/

His healthcare costs to Boston: http://www.boston.com/news/local/art...ost_to_double/

Edit: Another one about his ability for job growth:

As governor of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2007, Romney presided over anemic job growth. According to Reuters, “Labor Department figures showed Massachusetts ranked forty-seventh among the states in the rate of jobs growth in those four years —ahead of only Ohio, Michigan and Louisiana.” You might expect this to make Romney shy about constantly attacking anyone else’s record on job growth, but it hasn’t. Nor, apparently, has a series of embarrassing revelations about Romney’s campaign commercials and speeches.

Basically, this man is known to be a growth and jobs killer and a corporate raider.

I call this work in progress. They need to do a massive reform of welfare, you would not believe the people I personally know that get welfare and should not be by any stretch of the imagination.
