Default Salt is the enemy

So i pulled a noob move and forgot to remove my license plate frame from the car when it snowed...so in all cases the salt residue got to it and basically left a layer of black darkened spots...it doesn't seem like it ate the chrome/polished silver/whatever the coat is...because i managed to scrape some off, but a lot of labor to do so. just wondering if anyone knows how to get this crud of, much appreciated

Try some vinegar. If that doesn't work then try some oven cleaner. Be careful though that is some very serious stuff.

a clay bar and clay lube will work for you... it will take some time though

after you clean it i would suggest buying a can of clearcoat and putting a few coats on it so you dont have to worry about it again
